BTV World Joins AsiaSat 3S
(23 February 2004) Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Limited (AsiaSat) and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh’s national broadcaster Bangladesh Television (BTV) have signed a lease agreement for the use of C band capacity on AsiaSat 3S to broadcast BTV World, a television channel for overseas service across the Asia Pacific region.

Phonex Announces ReadyWire Powerline Field Test for Set Top Box Applications
(26 February 2004) Phonex Broadband Corporation, a world leader in Power Line Carrier (PLC) voice and data communications, has announced plans for the international field test of the ReadyWire Powerline Home Communications Chip. The ReadyWire chip can be embedded into set top boxes to enable box to box communication as well as a telephone base unit. The field test will measure range, reliability, and performance for set top box and many other applications in the home.

Satlynx and Macab Announce Reseller Agreement
(27 February 2004) Macab AB and Satlynx SA will use their existing framework agreement to enable Macab to deliver services utilising the SkyStar Advantage 360E VSAT product to the Swedish Golf Association. To date: Macab has ordered 192 VSATs for delivery to numerous Golf clubs that are members of the association.

Tandberg TV Scores Exclusive Agreement with GlobeCast for 2004 Olympics
(26 February 2004) Satellite services company GlobeCast has chosen Tandberg Television as its broadcast equipment provider of choice for this summer’s Olympic games in Athens. A host of Tandberg Television’s latest equipment, including multiplexers, MPEG-2 encoders, modulators and network adapters, will be at the heart of GlobeCast’s compression and satellite/fibre distribution services for the duration of the games.

US Monolithics to Supply Ka Band Transceivers to WildBlue
(27 February 2004) US Monolithics is to be the exclusive supplier of outdoor satellite transceiver electronics to ViaSat for WildBlue Communications Inc, an emerging satellite broadband Internet service provider. WildBlue and US Monolithics have had a long relationship focused on developing a customised, highly-integrated, low-cost Ka band transceiver for the WildBlue consumer satellite service. WildBlue is expected to launch its satellite broadband service in the latter half of 2004.

(23 February 2004) Herring Broadcasting Inc has selected Galaxy 13 to provide satellite delivery of its Wealth TV channel to cable and DBS providers throughout North America. Galaxy 13 is the home of the USA's first and leading high-definition television (HDTV) neighbourhood featuring such broadcasters as Cinemax HD, HBO HDTV, HDNet, Starz! HD and TNT HD.

Trimble Selected for UNAVCO's EarthScope PBO Network
(26 February 2004) UNAVCO Inc has selected Trimble to provide 875 Trimble NetRS Global Positioning System (GPS) reference station receivers over five years. The reference station receivers will be used as part of the Plate Boundary Observatory (PBO) network, a major component of the EarthScope Program sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Spectrum Astro Developing Network Hardware for IP in Space
(24 February 2004) Spectrum Astro has been awarded a contract to develop spacecraft network hardware called Space Network Router (SNR) by the NASA Earth Science Technology Office (ESTO), Advanced Information Systems Technology (AIST) Program. The SNR program evolved from a previous NASA Computing, Information, and Communications Technology (CICT) Program called Space Network Devices (SND). The contract, which will be managed at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC), is valued at US$ 918,000 with a two-year period of performance.
