Qualcomm's GlobalTRACS Equipment Management Solution
(11 July 2005) Qualcomm
Incorporated, a leading provider of wireless data solutions, and U.S. Markets,
Inc., a leading provider for the wholesale aerial work platform rental and
sales industry, have signed an agreement to install Qualcomm's GlobalTRACS
equipment management solution on a significant portion of U.S. Markets'
fleet.
The GlobalTRACS solution provides construction
equipment companies the information they need to improve asset utilisation and
operational efficiency, to help prevent loss due to theft of equipment, and to
monitor machine health.
"Tracking and monitoring our equipment is an
essential factor in our company's success and with GlobalTRACS we will improve
productivity, increase machine uptime and extend equipment life," said Peter
Mastro, general manager of U.S. Markets, Inc. "Our customers will benefit from
reductions in unnecessary downtime and we will be able to manage our service
contracts more efficiently, which directly translates into cost reductions and
better customer service."
Designed to meet the demanding requirements
of the construction equipment industry, the GlobalTRACS solution collects,
manages and transmits equipment engine hours and location data, as well as
remotely monitors critical machine health. This information can be accessed via
the web or integrated into existing back-end business software systems.
Qualcomm's Network Operations Center, one of the world's largest and most
reliable wireless data networks, provides wireless service and monitoring
support for all GlobalTRACS-enabled equipment and 24-hour customer service.
"U.S. Markets, Inc. is a leader in leasing aerial equipment to rental
companies, and we are proud to be part of their customer solution," said Larry
Cleary, general manager of construction equipment, Qualcomm Wireless Business
Solutions. "We believe that outfitting their equipment with the GlobalTRACS
solution will help them reduce equipment downtime, increase revenue and provide
significant value to both U.S. Markets and their customers."
Located
in Chicago, Illinois, U.S. Markets, Inc. is the nation's largest supplier of
aerial lift equipment, renting and selling aerial lift equipment including
telehandlers, Rough-Terrain and Slab Scissor Lifts, and Booms.
Qualcomm is the industry's global leader in providing high-value wireless data
