Sirius and Sirenza Microdevices to Introduce New Ultra-Low Profile Antenna for Sirius Satellite Radio

(14 July 2005) Sirius Satellite Radio and Sirenza Microdevices are introducing a small, ultra-low profile, high-performance antenna for Sirius that is the thinnest ever produced for satellite radio.

The new disc-shaped antenna has been designed by Sirenza to optimally receive and amplify digital signals from Sirius' satellites and terrestrial repeaters. The antenna is magnetically mounted to the roof of vehicles, and is designed to operate with various Sirius radio receivers.

"Product technology is moving forward as rapidly as the growth of satellite radio itself," said Jim Meyer, Sirius President of Operations and Sales. "The introduction of this new, ultra-thin disc-shaped antenna is proof of our ability to provide customers with leading-edge technology to further enhance the Sirius listening experience. Plus, with its extremely low profile, the antenna is very aesthetically pleasing."

"We are very enthusiastic about the successful introduction and production ramp of this state-of-the-art active antenna, and about the potential future development of products for Sirius," said Robert Van Buskirk, President and CEO of Sirenza. "The expanded production level achieved this quarter clearly demonstrates our ability to utilise our radio frequency (RF) design and manufacturing expertise, and also showcases our ability to move into broader, more diversified end markets and applications."

The new Sirius ultra-low profile antenna from Sirenza will be available this summer with multiple Sirius portable "Plug & Play" radios, and will also be sold separately.
