MobiApps Announces Release of Next Generation Orbcomm Modem

(16 October 2006) MobiApps, Inc. is pleased to announce the introduction of the m100, the next generation, high-performance Orbcomm satellite smart modem designed for global management and monitoring of remote and mobile assets.

The m100 extends MobiApps product offerings to new markets, complementing its existing m-Trak cellular-based vehicle tracking and logistics system.

The m100 provides world-wide satellite two-way data communications and geo- location in a very small and power efficient package. The m100 operates over the Orbcomm low-earth orbit satellite network, providing unlimited global coverage. With the m100's built-in GPS receiver, asset utilisation is significantly increased by allowing systems to track, monitor, and manage fixed and mobile assets around the world.

Sanjay Chakrabarty, CEO and President of MobiApps, stated: "Managing and monitoring remote and mobile assets is the next frontier in today's information technology revolution. The introduction of the m100 makes this possible on a global scale as never before."

Jerome Eisenberg, CEO and President of Orbcomm, stated, "The introduction of the m100 subscriber communicator continues the trend of product innovations taking place in the M2M industry that leverage the many advantages of the Orbcomm network. The m100 offers a compelling combination of performance and value in a very small form factor."

Production samples and developers kits are now available with volume production scheduled for November. The m100 is quite mature, given its predecessor m100D heritage, which uses the same technology for application I/O, serial, and software hosting environment.

A wide range of global applications, including security, tracking, messaging and monitoring, will benefit from the m100. The type of mobile equipment well-suited for the new technology includes trucks, trailers, rail cars, fishing vessels, freight barges, construction equipment, automobiles and shipping containers. Examples of remote equipment include generators, utility meters, pipelines, LPG tanks and oil wells.
