TCS SwiftLink
Systems and Global Satellite Services Pass Stringent DoD Network
Testing
(17 October 2006) TeleCommunication
Systems, Inc. (TCS), a global leader in mission-critical wireless data
solutions, today announced its SwiftLink DVM-90 and SwiftLink 2410 deployable
satellite communications systems, along with its SwiftLink Global Satellite
Services (GSS), have been successfully assessed for use in the U.S. Coast Guard
(USCG) Boarding Team Communications (BTC) network.
Voice, data
and video tests resulted in a 100-percent completion rate. As a part of the
test, TCS provided engineering and satellite communications network services at
the test site and at the TCS Teleport facility in Manassas, VA.
The
results were ranked well above the test criteria, and the SwiftLink end-to-end
solution, as part of the overall BTC network configuration, met or exceeded all
critical criteria requirements as outlined in the Joint Interoperability Test
Command (JITC) Tailored Interoperability Support Plan. The tests simulated both
Unclassified-But-Sensitive Internet Protocol (IP) Router Network and Secret IP
Router Network (SIPRnet) operations. The Defense Information Systems Agency
(DISA) successfully accessed the SwiftLink products and services during the
Department of Defense Interoperability Communications Exercise (DICE) 2006 at
the JITC in Fort Huachuca, AZ.
Michael Bristol, Vice President of the
Network Solutions Group for TCS, stated, "The successful JITC test status opens
the door for other DoD agencies to procure TCS' SwiftLink suite of products and
services for their deployable communication requirements. Working in
conjunction with the U.S. Coast Guard, the entire JITC test process was a huge
success. Following Hurricane Katrina, TCS demonstrated the value of its
SwiftLink products and services to provide vital voice and data communications
with several federal agencies."
About TCS' SwiftLink Deployable
Communications Systems And Services
TCS SwiftLink DVM-90 0.9-meter
Ku-band Deployable VSAT Module for single users is lightweight and compact,
easily set up in 20 minutes, software-driven and shipped in two carry-on sized
containers.
TCS SwiftLink 2410 deployable Internet Protocol (IP)-based
router is designed to provide compliant access from the field to secure
networks at the home station. SwiftLink 2410 integrates a Cisco 2811 Integrated
Services Router and the latest Cisco IOS (internetworking operating software)
into a complete, tactical IP-based router. Broadband throughput of 8MB/s
ensures QoS and service level assignment for all applications - even Virtual
Private Network (VPN) access.
TCS SwiftLink Global Satellite Services is
a Ku-band commercial satellite service including a secure teleport facility and
affordable space segment, designed to provide readily available high-speed
access for disaster response teams, deployed military units, travelling VIPs or
any information specialist requiring a flexible and easy-to-use communications
capability.
