Eagle Broadband
Sells a Portable SatMAX Alpha ECS to Texas Non-Profit
Organisation
(19 June 2007) Eagle Broadband, Inc.,
a leading national provider of broadband, Internet Protocol (IP) and digital
communications technology and services, announced today that it has sold one of
its SatMAX Emergency Communications Systems (ECS) to a non-profit organisation
in Texas. Eagle will also install the system for the
facility.
The non-profit organisation provides services to
people with emotional, developmental, and educational disabilities and their
families and has facilities in 43 states and 5 countries. They provide care in
various settings - homes, schools, campus-based programs, and hospitals. The
company will use the system to help in times of crisis with its special needs
students.
Typically utilized for its emergency communications
capabilities, Eagle's SatMAX technology is also a highly effective tool for
testing all types of Iridium-based technology. The Alpha ECS unit, a
"SatMAX-in-a-suitcase", is highly portable and permits establishment of an
emergency response centre in almost any enclosed area. The SatMAX system
permits non-line-of-sight use of Iridium satellite phones. Thus, control
centres can be in touch with units in the field and, in fact, make a call to
any telephone world-wide.
"We are thrilled to be helping out a caring
organisation like this with our SatMAX ECS unit," said Dave Micek, president
and CEO of Eagle Broadband. "It is nice to have a technology that can be used
in many facets of communication. Although the SatMAX technology was developed
to be used for emergency communications by first responders in times of severe
crisis, it is gratifying to see it gaining wider acceptance in corporate and
non-profit organisations as well."
