Newpoint Technologies
Announces Nasa Achievement Award And Successful Space Network Management System
Spiral 2 Delivery
(14 July 2008) Newpoint Technologies,
Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Integral Systems, Inc., and a recognised
leader in Network Management and Remote Site Monitoring solutions, announced
today that its Spiral 2 Delivery to Honeywell of Compass Software for NASA's
Space Network successfully completed acceptance testing in April and the
Delivery team received a NASA Group Achievement Award in
May.
This award is presented to a group of government employees
or a group comprised of government and non-government personnel for outstanding
accomplishment through the co-ordination of many individual efforts that have
contributed substantially to a NASA mission.
Newpoint's Compass Software
provides NASA with remote management capability for its Guam terminal. A
redundant pair of Compass servers interface with the ground segment enabling
operators at New Mexico's WSC (White Sands Complex) to monitor status, view
alarms, and control equipment in Guam. Compass' replication features ensure
delivery and efficient data transfer through the limited bandwidth between WSC
and Guam.
"Newpoint was able to provide to Honeywell a COTS solution
that required very little modification to the core product to meet the
requirements of managing equipment located in Guam. In doing so, we were able
to significantly reduce the risk, cost, and schedule associated with delivering
the Compass M&C system. By selecting key products from the Integral Systems
family, namely modems from RT Logic, the Doppler Compensation Module from
Integral Systems, and Compass Software from Newpoint, Honeywell had a single
organization that shared its goals and was responsible for delivering a
seamlessly integrated solution to NASA," stated Wally Martland, Newpoint's
President.
In addition to managing Guam's standard RF equipment, Compass
Software also interfaces into the wideband and narrowband modems provided by RT
Logic, and the mission control and status software provided by General
Dynamics, which in turn uses a Doppler Compensation Module programming library
from Integral Systems to perform Doppler compensation
calculations.
