iDirect Selected By
Russian Network Operator HeliosNet To Expand Its Broadband
Services
(18 March 2008) iDirect, Inc.
(iDirect), a company of VT Systems, Inc. (VT Systems) and a world leader in
satellite-based IP communications technology, today announced that Russian
network operator Web Media Services, which operates under the name "HeliosNet,"
has implemented iDirect's satellite communications
platform.
HeliosNet installed two iDirect Universal 5IF
satellite hubs and multiple remote routers. This establishes a broad satellite
network that can support a diverse range of applications and maximise bandwidth
efficiency at a time when the supply of capacity in the Russian satellite
market is nearly exhausted. This will also enable HeliosNet to expand its
customer base and introduce new broadband services throughout Russia and the
Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Based on the iDirect
Intelligent Platform, HeliosNet will build an enterprise-class network with
full mesh capabilities that will deliver IP broadband for Virtual Private
Networks (VPN), Voice over IP (VoIP), Internet access, business continuity,
video conferencing and other applications. The network will connect to multiple
satellites and feature iDirect's patented D- TDMA system, which dynamically
allocates bandwidth over multiple remotes. The iDirect platform also delivers
Group QoS (Quality of Service) functionality, which allocates bandwidth to
specific IP applications, enabling HeliosNet to support a diversity of service
level agreements in real time.
"The demand for high-speed satellite
connectivity in Russia is growing exponentially; however, network operators are
constrained by a tightly limited supply of satellite capacity. iDirect is
enabling HeliosNet to thrive in this bandwidth-constrained environment by
providing enterprise-class connectivity that fully meets the communications
needs of our customers." Alexey Sergeev, Director General,
HeliosNet.
"We are excited to welcome HeliosNet to our growing base of
partners world-wide. We look forward to helping one of Russia's largest VSAT
operators implement and manage a seamless network that enables them to grow
their customer base in the rapidly developing Russian market." David Harrower
Regional Vice President and Managing Director, Europe, Russia and CIS,
iDirect.
