Environmental
Tectonics Corporation's NASTAR Center Sends Ninety-Six Space Cruise
Participants To Space
(31 March 2008) Environmental
Tectonics Corporation announced today that its NASTAR Center will provide a
2-day space training experience in Philadelphia for 96 participants attending
Space Cruise Week in April 2009.
The Space Cruise, set to sail
in April of 2009 aboard the luxury yacht Sea Dream, will include several
space-themed festivities during its journey including the boarding of several
famous astronauts to act as guests and educators during the voyage. The Space
Cruise will be provided by XtraOrdinary Adventures.
One of the main
events is training in ETC's National AeroSpace Training and Research (NASTAR)
Center. Participants will each receive a 2-day space program entitled the
Complete Sub-Orbital Space Training Experience. The Complete Sub-Orbital Space
Training Experience is part of NASTAR Center's newly released Air and Space
Adventure Programs which allow guests to participate in authentic training and
experience air combat and space flights.
Mitchell J Schultz, Director of
XtraOrdinary Adventures, announced, "Ninety-six possible participants from
around the globe are expected to register for a Space Cruise, and all
ninety-six will get an authentic space training experience at the NASTAR
Center. This will enable cruise week attendees to get a real taste of the
flavours of spaceflight."
The participants will receive a 2-day Complete
Sub-Orbital Space Training Program which is based on the flight profile of
Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo; a thrilling spaceflight experience that
produces actual G force exposure experienced during launch, weightlessness, and
the re-entry portions of flight. Each 2-day space training program includes
space training courses, four space flights, and an awards ceremony. Each space
trainee will receive their own flightsuit, coursebook, certificate, souvenir
DVD and get to 'earn their wings' upon completion of their space
flights.
Brienna Henwood, Business Development Manager at NASTAR Center,
stated "The 2-day space training program is truly unique in that it's the most
comprehensive space experience available. It is the closest thing possible to
an actual sub-orbital space flight, and we are pleased to be able to provide
this great experience to the public."
During space cruise week,
participants will meet others of similar interests from around the world while
cruising on the luxury yacht Sea Dream with several famous astronauts. The
astronauts will select at random up to six passengers for a future sub-orbital
spaceflight.
Additional festivities include a zero-G flight take off and
landing from the Kennedy Space Center shuttle runway, a tour of the Center and
a closing ceremony with many noted space enthusiasts.
