(22 February 2016) O3b Networks today announced the addition of Charles Hannaford as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and John-Paul Hemingway, PhD as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).

Together they will lead O3b’s commercial and development activities across all regions and verticals.

As CCO, Hannaford leads O3b’s regional sales teams in Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America as well as O3b’s vertically focused units serving Telco’s, Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), Energy, Maritime and Government markets. Hannaford joined O3b Networks in 2010 and has been a driving force behind O3b’s sales strategy and execution since then.

Hemingway, who joins O3b from leading network specialist Ciena, will drive O3b’s development of products and verticals and will lead O3b’s Product Management, Product Marketing, Business Development, Marketing Communications and Strategy. His appointment underscores O3b’s commitment to being the network of choice for high performance fixed and mobile communication solutions for its customers.

O3b Networks, a next-generation communications company, operates a state-of-the-art satellite network that provides fiber-like connectivity to the hardest to reach places in the world.

“I’m thrilled to have Charles and JP join the executive team at O3b and to have them lead our commercial strategy and execution. It is notable that both have strong terrestrial and network experience which signals a clear intent for O3b to play an even more significant role in our customers’ networks in the future,” said Steve Collar, CEO of O3b Networks. “Our customers expect us to keep innovating; to bring products, services and solutions that enhance their business and to do so in a very customer focused way. With Charles and JP on board we are in a great position to be able to do that.”

“I’m honored to lead such a dynamic and successful sales team”, said Hannaford. “O3b is the fastest growing satellite operator in history because we build partnerships with our customers. The first O3b customers pioneered a new way to bring state-of-the-art communications to the substantial populations not well served by the market and the results have been spectacular. I look forward to the journey ahead and to serving our customers, whatever their communications needs are in the future”.

“O3b has a great model and has proved its success in the market since commercial launch,” said Hemingway. “Going forward we will be looking to bring even more value to our customers’ networks, engaging them on models for digital transformation, cloud enablement and analytics across our verticals. I am really looking forward to working with our customers and partners to create network solutions that will grow our businesses together.”
