comtech ef dataComtech to upgrade satellite connectivity network in India

(25 February 2016) Comtech EF Data has been awarded a $1.9 million order for infrastructure equipment.

A large satellite systems integrator in India will utilize the equipment to increase its customer’s capabilities and expand its existing satellite connectivity network to optimize Internet traffic and increase the throughput while lowering overall operating costs.

The customer's existing network utilizes Comtech EF Data equipment to support mobile backhaul and Internet connectivity to mountainous areas within India and to several islands surrounding the country. To support the network upgrade and expansion, a combination of products featuring innovations that boosts the Quality of Experience (QoE) for end users while maximizing overall net efficiencies will be deployed. As a base platform, the network will leverage the CDM-625A Advanced Satellite Modem, equipped with the VersaFEC-2 Forward Error Correction to provide the best application performance for medium- to low-speed links and DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier bandwidth compression to provide optimal economics. In addition, the FX-4010 WAN Optimization platform will be incorporated into the network to provide both header and payload compression, TCP session acceleration and robust three-level traffic shaping to ensure the premier Quality of Service (QoS). Up converters and down converters were also included in the bundle. All products will work in tandem to provide a heightened QoE for the service provider’s users, enabling the true broadband experience.

“We are pleased that our customer will expand the capabilities of its existing Comtech EF Data-based satellite communications network with several of our new feature enhancements,” commented Dr. Stanton Sloane, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp. “This customer will continue to leverage our field-proven multi-layer solution suite to provide the application performance and underlying economics that are required in today’s satellite communications landscape.”
